Facts about plastic:

Plastic takes up to 1,000 years to break down and breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces called microplastics. These pieces of plastic end up in the oceans and are eaten by the animals in the sea.

Animals are the victims: Many animals in the water confuse plastic with food. For example, plastic bags quickly resemble a jellyfish. One of a turtle's favorite snacks. Almost 40% of the dead leatherback turtles we find have plastic in their system.

If we continue like this, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2045. 90% of plastic is not recycled properly and ends up in our oceans (which equates to approximately 8 million tons of plastic per year).
